Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

There are many indicators of unhealthy teeth. If you have discoloured or bleeding gums, chipped or cracked teeth, discoloured teeth, bad breath, tooth or jaw pain, then we highly recommend you arrange an appointment with us, so we can discover the root of your problem.

If you are experiencing pain in a tooth, there could be a number of contributing factors. In most cases, toothaches are caused by dental problems such as a dental cavity, a cracked tooth, an exposed tooth root, or gum disease. If you are experiencing tooth pain, don’t take it lightly. We recommend that you book an appointment as soon as possible so we can treat the problem and stop your pain.

Ideally you need to visit the dentist at least once every 6 months. Regular visits allow Ormeau Dental to find early signs of disease and ensure that problems are treated before they become serious.

Swollen or bleeding gums are warning signs that our bodies give us so that we can take action to prevent a problem from progressing too far. If your gums bleed when you brush or floss your teeth please call us as soon as possible and we will find a solution for you.

To keep your teeth and gums healthy you must make sure you brush your teeth regularly. Other things that may help include: mouthwashes, tongue cleaning, Flossing, regular dental visits and eating a healthy diet, which includes limiting sugary drinks and foods.

Usually when you visit the dentist for your initial check up you will be seen by a dentist and a dental hygienist. The hygienist will conduct an initial oral exam of your gums and teeth, document any changes in your overall oral health, clean and polish your teeth, talk to you about looking after your teeth and gums, and answer any questions you might have. Your dentist will also conduct an oral exam of your mouth for signs of tooth decay, gum disease or other diseases they will usually request an x-ray to ensure that any hidden problems are brought to light.

X-rays enable the dentist to spot hidden problems such as decay beneath fillings or between teeth. Identifying problems early makes treatment easier and cheaper.

Depending on the condition of your teeth you will require different dental services. This may change the cost of your appointment if further treatment or x-rays are required. At Ormeau Dental we understand that each mouth is unique. Often a basic check-up can range between $30 and $60.

Our team is happy to discuss your concerns before your check-up, and no work will be done without firstly going over any required procedures with you. Our aim is to become your family dentist, one you can trust with both your smile and your wallet.
